Capital Area Down Syndrome Association

CADSA was off to a busy start this year. In January, all dues-paying members were able to cast their vote for Vice President and Secretary of the Board. Congratulations to Carrie Moore and Julie Day, respectively, on their re-elections!

Also in January, Jodi Wiley organized our first annual Family Fun Day. Fun was had by all . . . cake/cupcake walk, games, chili cook-off, and socializing. Since this was a great success, we plan to break through the winter blues with another Family Fun Day next year as well.

We have several events planned for this year so be on the lookout in your e-mail for info on these events!!

CADSA is at an interesting point in our journey to becoming a true community support group. Over the past couple of years we have been able to support the few therapy and convention fees requests we have received. Money from the Buddy Walk has covered these requests.

However, although last year's Buddy Walk was a success in most ways, we did not raise as much money as we did the previous year. This year we have many more requests for help in covering therapy costs as well as parents needing to attend conventions and seminars.

In addition to our Buddy Walk that will be held in September, we will be having some other fundraising events, such as poker tournaments, selling the balance or our cookbooks, etc.

We will need lots of volunteers for these fundraising events. Remember, we are doing all of this for our kids and we need everyone's help!!!!!

Please be on the lookout for e-mails with specific volunteer opportunities. If you can't give your time, maybe a family member or friend is looking for a way to give back to the community - spread the word we need your help!!!!
